Derrick Tennant
Thursday Night General Session Keynote Speaker

Internationally known comedian, speaker, and closet magician Derrick Tennant travels the world sharing the story of how he overcame overwhelming obstacles to become the leader he is today.

As a promising athlete, Mr. Tennant was pursuing his dream career in sports when one evening he laid down and did not wake up again until three days later. Paralyzed and in a coma, Mr. Tennant underwent brain surgery from which he became unable to move his left side and was confined to a wheelchair. It would take years of therapy to relearn the basics like walking, talking, and simple daily tasks. While Mr. Tennant is still unable to use his left arm and walks with a limp, he has learned to look on the bright side of life.

Mr. Tennant credits one thing for his ability to make it through this process: LOVE. Receiving love from his family, his friends, and his God, combined with learning to better demonstrate love in the midst of difficulty, were essential to his survival and vitality. After undergoing brain surgery, participating in years of rehab, and being told he would spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, Mr. Tennant's strong will, faith, and determination ultimately gave him the ability to stand on his own two feet again. Despite the very limited use of his left side, he loves life and "looks on the RIGHT side" of things.

Mr. Tennant communicates the importance of turning obstacles into opportunities. He works hard to overcome physical challenges and works just has hard to help others conquer their own trials through laughter and his inspirational story, which you will hear Thursday night at Conklin's Opening General Session.

ENTERTAINMENT

Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns
Friday Night's President's Celebration

One of the hottest groups in Christian music will be the featured entertainment at Conklin’s 2020 National Convention. Casting Crowns is the second-fastest Christian band in history to have their first two albums certified platinum. The group has sold more than 10 million records and have earned the title of Billboard’s top-selling act in Christian music since 2007.

The group was nominated for six American Music Awards, winning Best Contemporary Inspirational Artist in 2007, 2011, 2014, and 2015. With five nominations, the group won Billboard Music Awards’ Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Album for Come to the Well in 2012. Casting Crowns has been nominated for 37 Dove Awards, winning 15 of those nominations from 2005-2011.  In addition, they have been nominated for four Grammy Awards and won for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel for Lifesong in 2006.

Casting Crowns’ intimate songs, upbeat and fresh tracks, and impactful lyrics that center around the gospel will fill your soul at the President's Concert following the President’s Club Awards.

The Hall Sisters

The Hall Sisters
Saturday Night's Gala Awards Banquet

The Hall Sisters have established themselves as one of the up-and-coming acts in the country pop genre. A vocal/instrumental foursome of talented siblings, The Hall Sisters have already performed at notable venues such as the Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, the National Quartet Convention, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The diversity of their repertoire comes from a love of various styles of music. The sisters blend folk, pop, nostalgia, gospel, and classical, then add a little bluegrass and tons of tight family harmonies. They can play a classical piece with violin, cello, viola, and mandolin; knock out an acapella four-part harmony version of a gospel hymn; spark memories with a classic 1940s novelty song; or set toes tapping with an energetic country/bluegrass medley.

This infusion of family, beauty, and musical talent is an experience you don't want to miss during Saturday night's Gala Awards Banquet.
